Agnisara Dhauti

Kindling the inner fire

Agnisara Dhauti is one of the most important yoga techniques that allows you to cleanse the body of toxins and stimulate the digestive system. It can be roughly translated as “kindling the digestive fire” or “cleansing the entrails with fire.” It is especially useful for those who often experience digestive problems and are constantly under stress.

Technically, Uddiyana (Vacuum) is very similar to Agnisara Dhauti, the difference is that the execution mode of Uddiyana Bandha is static, while Agnisara Dhauti is dynamic. The last of them stimulates blood circulation, contributing to a more even distribution of blood from the center to the periphery.

The technique is that you need to take a deep breath and hold your breath for a few seconds. Then you need to quickly and sharply contract the abdominal muscles inward, pushing the air out of the lungs and starting the process of massaging the internal organs. After that, you should relax the abdominal muscles and inhale the air.

However, before starting the technique, it is necessary to warm up the abdominal muscles in order to avoid injury. To do this, you can perform simple stretching exercises, and then try to contract the abdominal muscles gradually, increasing the tension as you master the technique.

The most important effect of abdominal manipulations is their effect on venous outflow. The creation of negative pressure in the body cavities (thoracic and abdominal) has a suction effect, facilitating the return of venous blood to the heart and thus facilitating blood circulation through the vascular system, making tissue gas exchange more efficient.

Agnisara Dhauti can also help improve the functioning of the organs of the digestive system. This practice improves digestion, relieves constipation and reduces bloating. It can also help relieve tension and improve overall well-being.

Contraindications: problems in the work of the heart, high blood pressure, hernia and other diseases associated with the abdominal organs.

Do all exercises in your comfort zone. If you have acute pain, then there is no need to do this
